In Person

1. Make an appointment by email.
2. Somehow come to Ikarashi campus of Niigata University (see below).
3. Enter the building of Faculty of Engineering from its north entrance (Google Map).
4. Go upstairs to the second floor (in British English). The faculty member’s office is in room A-301.

From Niigata Station to Ikarashi Campus

Ikarashi campus is about 12 km away to the west from Niigata station. Use public transportations to come to the campus. Access Information announced by Niigata University is also helpful.

By Train

The nearest station is Uchino station on JR Echigo Line (Google Map). It takes about 25 minutes by train from Niigata to Uchino.

From Uchino station, go to the north gate of Niigata University (Google Map) by walk. It will be 15 minute uphill walk (the campus is on a coastal dune of 25m height and Uchino station is in the foot of the dune).

By Bus

From Niigata station bus stop No.7 (西小針線), get on a bus number W21 bound for “Nishi-Kobari and Niigata-Daigaku” (西小針経由 新潟大学), or “Nishi-Kobari, Niigata-Daigaku, and Uchino-Eigyosho” (西小針・新潟大学経由 内野営業所). Get off at Shindai-Nishimon (新大西門) bus stop (Google Map) or Shindai-Kogakubu-Mae (新大工学部前) bus stop (Google Map). After that, walk down to the laboratory through the campus.

It takes about 45 minites by bus and a few miniutes by walk.

One of the benefit of buses is that they bring you right in front of the university and so you do not need to hike the dune and walk around. However, the bus fare is about twice of the rail fare.

Accommodation

There is no hotel around Ikarashi campus. Staying at a hotel near Niigata station is recommended.
